ABOUT
STAFF SURVIVAL WORKSHOP
This “Survival Workshop” is a thoughtful orientation
of instructional skills necessary for teaching deaf and hearing-impaired
children and adults, especially in mainstreamed settings. This specialized
program can benefit all classroom teachers, student teachers, tutors
and aides, as well as supervisory, office and support staff. Additionally,
parents will learn how their children relate to anyone in a teaching
capacity. Our unique workshop is lively, enjoyable and enlightening.
Concentrated “Survival Workshop” strategies include:
- Where you Stand, Room Layout and Lighting, How you Speak,
- How you Teach, Accomodating your student’s Physical Needs,
- Using Media, How to assuring relay of Correct Information to
the student, Testing, and Dealing with Vocabulary Deficit and
How to contact Deaf Parents.
- Also covered: Using interpreters, FM systems and Note-takers.
A few school-related “survival signs” will also be
included.
This curriculum facilitates your efforts with students to acquire
language, learning, and positive life skills. Any school, parent,
group, organization or individual(s) assisting in the educational
process within the Deaf Community will find this “Survival
Workshop” - A MUST.
