I am running for the governing board because:

  • I believe in public service.
  • Serving on the Governing Board will give me the opportunity to give back to my community and to the college district.
  • I have over 30 years of teaching and educational leadership experience at both the college and high school levels.
  • I am knowledgeable about the issues facing our community colleges.
  • I will serve the citizens of Maricopa County and work to provide the community college district with effective, ethical, and quality governance.

 MY KEY POSITIONS

I will be a strong advocate for the students of Maricopa County.

  • I believe that Governing Board policy decisions should focus first on making quality education accessible to everyone in our communities.
  • I will work to provide the highest quality education at the lowest cost for our students.
  • I advocate an increased focus on teaching and learning to prepare students for an enriched and successful life.
  • I will work to make our community college campuses secure, safe havens for students and employees.
  • I will support decisions that put student learning first.

I will work to maintain fiscal responsibility.

  • I will work to eliminate any wasteful spending and to set spending priorities to support student learning.
  • I support personal and institutional responsibility.
  • I promise effective and accountable stewardship of taxpayer money.

I will work to make the Community College District function efficiently and effectively.

  • I will support policies requiring that employees carry out their public trust professionally and responsibly, and that the colleges maintain the highest ethical standards.
  • I will support more interaction between the Governing Board and the college employee groups.
